The meaning of bells

Raynette K. Weiss Ministries run by Our Lord and on earth by Rev. Raynette K. Weiss and Assistant Minister Jessie K. Weiss Written by Raynette K. Weiss and Jessie K. Weiss. We invite you to The biblical meaning of christmas bells. Wednesday December 20, 2023

As it turns out, bells have a deep-seated meaning in the Christian tradition. For centuries, they have been used to symbolize the joyous proclamation of Christ’s birth, signaling the beginning of the season of peace, hope, and love. The earliest references to bells in religious ceremonies date back to the third century, when early Christians would ring small bells as they read from the Bible.
When it comes to Christmas, bells serve as a reminder of the joyous occasion and spread the message of the birth of Christ. The ringing of bells during this time also symbolizes the announcement of the arrival of Christmas and the hope and joy it brings. Another important use of bells during Christmas was in the form of caroling. Groups of people would travel from home to home singing Christmas carols and ringing handbells to spread the joys of the holiday; from church bells ringing to the sound of jingle bells on a reindeer’s harness. Whatever the form may be, the sound of the bell is a reminder of the joy and hope that Christmas brings. The use of bells in Christian worship has also inspired some of the most beautiful musical compositions. Bell choirs and handbells are popular during the Christmas season, and many churches use them to create beautiful harmonies and express the joy and wonder of the season.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Matthew 2:11 They went to the house where the child was and saw him with his mother, Mary. They bowed down and worshiped the child. They opened the gifts they brought for him. They gave him treasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Matthew 2:9 After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was.
