Saturday August 12, 2023. The New Testament was written after Jesus lived on Earth and introduces us to him, his birth, life and how he went to heaven to save humans on earth from their sins. It tells stories about all the miracles that Jesus performed, the people he helped and what he taught everyone about God.The New Testament is the part of the Bible that deals with the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and with Christianity in the early Church.
The word testament in the expression "New Testament" refers to a new covenant that Christians believe completes or fulfils the Mosaic covenant (the old covenant) that Yahweh (the national god of Israel) made with the people of Israel on Mount Sinai through Moses, described in the books of the Old Testament.
The New Testament is known as a collection of writings by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, and Jude. But it's not as simple as that. There is much debate among scholars about the authorship of some of these writings. This means that traditional attributions are not universally accepted.
