The Bible names 19 sons and one daughter belonging to King David, who had at least seven wives and many concubines. It is unknown exactly how many children King David fathered.
The sons named in the Bible are Amnon, Daniel (Chileab), Absalom, Adonijah, Shephatiah, Ithream, Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Eliada and Eliphelet. According to 2 Chronicles 11:18, Jerimoth, who is not mentioned in any of the genealogies, is another of King David’s sons. Sons born by his concubines are not named. David also had at least one daughter, Tamar, who had a problem with her half-brother Amnon. Tamar’s accident led to Amnon’s moving onto the spirit world.
